Standard Maintenance Windows

In order to maintain systems and equipment, ITS has regularly scheduled service outage windows. These are scheduled during a time with the lowest impact to clients. This does not mean an outage would occur during each window. Outages are only scheduled as they are required. Clients are notified in advance for planned outages.

The standard maintenance windows are:

Every Wednesday 6am-7am 1 hour
Every Thursday 6am-7am 1 hour
Every Sunday 6am-11am 3 hours
Last Saturday in June 6:30pm-12:30am 6 hours
First Saturday in November 6:30pm-12:30am 6 hours
Last Saturday before March Break 6:30pm-12:30am 6 hours

 

Standard Maintenance Blackout Periods

There are also standard maintenance blackout periods when we will NOT schedule Maintenance. These align with Critical points annual university activity cycle to reduce the risk and impact of unexpected failures and service interruptions, and also to  reduce the risk of weekend or holiday work for ITS staff.

Event Timing/Dates:
Registration Three days (non-consecutive) usually late March.  The days of registration and the business day prior are considered blackout days
Open Houses Three Saturdays and the proceeding Friday, occurring in mid February, late May and late October.
End of Week Friday
Day Before Statutory holiday
Beginning of Fall Term Mid-August through the first two weeks of classes
Beginning of Winter Term First two weeks of classes
Exam period fall and winter terms One week before exams and during exams
Convocation Mid-May and mid-October

Dates are fluid from year to year and are identified when the academic calendar is finalized.
