Connecting to Active Directory Home Drive Using Mac OS X
You may connect to Active Directory resources at STU with Mac OS X version 10.4.6 or later. Note that you will need to know the name of the server and file share that you are connecting to ahead of time.
Connect, follow the steps below:
**Note that if you are off campus, you will need to connect to the STU VPN first. Please refer to Creating VPN connection on MAC OS X
- Before you will be able to connect, you must synchronize your password with the Active Directory. To do this, complete the online password changing form at https://apps.stu.ca/password. You only need to do this once. You will need to follow the rest of the steps below each time you wish to connect.
- You are now ready to connect. To do so, click on the Finder icon at the left of your dock or click anywhere on your desktop outside of an application window to make finder active. Go to the Go menu and choose Connect to Server.
- Enter the server name in the box in the format of smb://fs1.ad.stu.ca/homefs/<username>, where “<username>” is replaced with your STU username. Click Connect.
- This will bring up an authentication window. In the window, click Connect as Registered User, and enter your STU login name and password. Click Connect.
