Mapping Home Drive – Windows PC

Mapping Your Home Drive

For Mapping your HOME drive while off campus please follow the Instructions below

**The following instructions assume you are connected to the internet and have logged into the STU staff VPN.  Please see VPN instructions**

 

  1. Press Win + E to open a File Explorer window.
  2. Right-click on the “This PC” icon and select Map Network Drive

  1. Select F: for the drive letter

  1. Enter \\fs1.ad.stu.ca\homefs\<username> – **Note:  <username> should be replaced with your STU username  (The one you enter when you initially log into your STU computer)
  2. Select Reconnect at Logon option if you want this drive to be mapped each time you reboot your computer.
  3. Click Connect using a different credentials.
  4. Click Finish
  5. A new box pops up, choose “Use a Different account”

  1. Enter Network Password
    1. User name:  Enter STU\<username>
      • <username> should be replaced with your STU username  (The one you enter when you initially log into your STU computer)
    2. Password:  Enter your Password
      • This is the password you use when you initially log into your STU computer.
    3. Choose Remember my credential
  2. Click OK
  3. You will see a new window open that will show all your files in your personal home drive.

 

 

Mapping Shared Drive (Departmental Drive):

ITS only will cover mapping to the top level of our departmental shared drives as it varies so greatly between departments. By following the steps below you will see all folders that you have access to.

  1. Press Win + E to open a File Explorer window.
  2. Right-click on the “This PC” icon and select Map Network Drive

  1. Select S: for the drive letter
  2. Enter \\fs1.ad.stu.ca\shrfs\

  1. Select Reconnect at Logon option if you want this drive to be mapped each time you reboot your computer.
  2. Click Connect using a different credentials.
  3. Click Finish
  4. A new box pops up, choose “Use a Different account”
